I’m Back! Here’s What I’ve Been Up To

So another term just started in my software development degree, which I’ve got a year’s worth left to do.

I’m working through it slowly. But unlike the 3 other incomplete degrees I started over the years, this one I’m going to finish.

I know, cause I’m a little bit obsessed with this field.

In my current course, I’m honing my vanilla JavaScript skills cause software developers need to know frontend web dev, too, apparently. But every spare hour of my days these days, I’m deep in the AI engineering trenches, teaching myself intelligent workflow automations and everything from simple n8n flows to LangChain and LangGraph for advanced reasoning, custom integrations, and DevOps (my favourite).

Why? Cause I’m a geek who’s addicted to Sudoku, and programming is like Sudoku with extra squares in odd configurations.

The thing is, the entrepreneurial spirit that also possesses me quickly recognized how valuable these automation tools and AI systems are to businesses, especially the smaller ones that want to stay lean and still optimise their services and maximize their profits.

As one of those very same business owners, I’ve been experimenting. I’m testing these automation systems in my actual businesses, and while some experiments have failed spectacularly (I’ll tell you about those later), all of them are strengthening my tech and business skills.

It’s that refining fire.

Anyway, “I’m back!” means I’m committing myself (again) to sharing my AI engineering-meets-entrepreneur learning journey.  I’m sharing real results from real tests in real businesses – mine, and maybe even yours.

  • Can these automations REALLY keep our operations lean, or do they just introduce other expenses?
  • Are these AI developments real or a bunch of tech bro hype?
  • Are they worth the risks associated with allowing artificial intelligence into our daily lives?
  • Can they really help our little business compete with the big guns?

I don’t know all those answers yet, but I’m committed to the discovery.

Let’s find out together.
